We Shall Not Allow Any Political Interference Between The Association and The State Government - NAOSS NATL' PRESIDENT

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ONDO STATE STUDENTS.

Greatest Nigerian students, distinguished NAOSS community and the good people of Ondo State.

My attention has been drawn to some slanderous and uncoordinated intellectual sophistry written by some politically influenced executives claiming to be student leaders of the association with the strange and purported executive meeting held on the 26th of January 2018 at a beer parlour joint, opp the dome Akure. Against the letter and idea of our constitutional provision on who has the legimate responsibility to call for a meeting, it is sad and unfortunate that supposed leaders of tomorrow could flagrantly act against the sacrosanct of our dear constitution.

I humbly and most respectfully seek this opportunity to officially address the whole world particularly the media and concerned NAOSSITES about the activities of the association so far and in clear reaction to the said letter.

“My administration, the patriotic intelligencia was sworn into office on 5th of July, 2017. At the swearing in ceremony, our plans and visions for the union were intelligently highlighted in my speech, full text of which were well circulated and can be retrieved from several news platforms. 

I want to clearly state that NAOSS under my leadership has followed with detail precision inline with our manifesto and road map for the association. We have engage mostly in dialogue in pressing home our demand, we believe strongly in it and we shall not allow any political interference between the association and the state  government.

LEADERSHIP ENGAGEMENT
A leadership meeting was call by our revered leader and former National President of the association Hon. Olamide George on 15th of January 2018 to address certain issues and find a collaborative measure to help the organization, the meeting was exhaustive and educative, at the meeting questions were raise bothering on diverse ideological standpoint and answers were provided accordingly. Unfortunately in clear departure to ideas of intellectualism some members of the executive expressed discomfort and made it known that they have not been receiving funds for personal fulfillment from the present government as against the age long practice, and suggestions where made to address the issue by Hon Olamide George in addition to the admonision that students unionism is not really an avenue to make money rather a platform for leadership training and engagement..

BURSARY AND SCHORLARSHIP
It is important to state in a clear term that the Ondo state governor Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu has made it known to the entire populace of Ondo state that the era of wasteful spending and misappropriation of the state resources will not be tolerated by his administration, this statement have been backed by actions by reducing profligacy and financial extravagance that is synonymous to the association in the past. This development has been a major setback to professional, careerist and students pensioners who are gravely addicted to sharing funds meant for the welfare of the students and who majorly earn living through that means.
It is sad that these characters masquerading as students leaders were so comfortable  with last administration in state without receiving bursary and scholarship for the students they claim they represent for almost 4years.

It is very disheartening to note that despite the efforts my administration invested in resuscitating the lost glory of the association by agitating and registering the complaints and demands of Ondo students to the government through various platforms of dialogue, what the politically oriented executives have always been clamour for is their personal gains in contradiction to our yearnings and aspirations. It is important to state that our agitations have led to the inclusion of Bursary and Scholarship for the students in the 2018 budget, with this development the hopes and dreams of thousands of Ondo students will surely come to reality, as the association is currently working alongside the Ondo state scholarship board to fast track the process.

OUR BUS
It should be noted that my administration inherited a grounded Association Bus which had been faulty for some years, we experienced a lots of setback on issue of mobility as we were unable to attend to official assignments and reaching out to students within and outside the state. This resulted to a unanimous resolution made by the National Executives and the Senate principal officers in the office of the special assistant to governor on youth and students to repair the association bus with the said sum of #400,000 through our monthly subvention the minute of the said meeting is available, the money was released by the state government. And was judiciously spent and documented. The bus was repaired with the knowledge of the entire Executives and the senate officers with 436k in addition with support from other well meaning citizens of Ondo State. The Naoss bus was used by the Executives and the Senate officials during the NAOSS NATIONAL CAMPUS TOUR as we visited several institutions within and outside the state among other official engagement.

“It is, therefore laughable and ridiculous to receive with surprise that the sole reason purportedly offered by the politically sponsored characters within the executives to issue their fraudulent suspension is my spurn conviction not to share the funds of the association but use it for the implementation of life changing program to reposition and bring back the lost glory of the association (NAOSS).

I believe the association (NAOSS) should serve as the voice for the voiceless not a means to satisfy the need of politicians who find joy in causing chaos among the students populace.
The whole of NAOSS frowns at the egocentric and self centered attitude of some politically sponsored executives and we are convinced they are being sponsored against the peaceful coexistence of our associatio.

We will not be discouraged no matter the situation and circumstance designed to impeed  our progress.
